Pepero Day

If you are residing in Korea, you’ll probably have the chance to receive Pepero today. 11th November (11/11) marks Pepero Day (빼빼로 데이) as 11/11 resembles 4 pepero sticks.  It was thought that Pepero Day was originated in 1994 in Busan middle high school girls who gave Pepero Sticks to their friends on November 11th wishing their friends ” Be tall and slender!” and/or “Be Number 1!”

“My favourite money pepero sticks!”

Friends and lovers on this day will exchange boxes of Pepero sticks. Students will also give their teachers boxes of pepero sticks whether they like it or not. Why not give a box of pepero to your loved ones today?

Recently, Music Portal Bucks  held a poll from November 2nd to November 8th which votes for the singer you wanna meet most on Pepero Day and 58% of Korean netizens voted for Kwon Yuri(권유리) of SNSD due to her great personality and pretty looks.

So, who receive the most on Pepero Day? I guess it goes to Lotte Confectionery which manufacture Pepero. The confectionery gets an increase in sales 2 months before Pepero Day. All thanks to the middle high school girls in Busan who inititated this day!

Happy Pepero Day!
