I was honoured to be invited for a presentation on Korea MICE (Meeting Incentive Convention Expo) in SUNTEC City few days ago. Korea is the destination with something for everyone. I have learned Seoul is not the only MICE destination in Korea, you can also have it in Incheon, Gyeonggi-do (Goyang City), Daejeon, Daegu, Gwangju, Busan, Changwon and Jeju.
Korea is an excellent place to hold any meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibition. The location of Korea is just 2 hours away from major East Asian cities like Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Beijing, Shanghai and Taipei and a few away from other major cities such as Hong Kong, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. Recently, the country has become a rising trendsetter in business, fashion, beauty and entertainment. In this post, I would like to focus on 3 cities – Seoul, Busan and Jeju.
Seoul is voted as the best BT MICE City in 2011. Despite being a big metropolis of 10 million people, Seoul is remarkably safe with friendly citizens. Although Seoul is a homogeneous city, it is also a cosmopolitan city, as English, Japanese and Chinese are being spoken by many Seoulites besides their native Korean. Seoul’s COEX Convention and Exhibition Center recently held a successful G-20 Summit in November 2010; where many world leaders attended. For more information, visit http://miceseoul.com
Busan is the 2nd largest city and largest port city of Korea. The city is known for its seafood, beaches, shopping and culture. In Busan, you can have your personalized taxi tour around the city. The taxi drivers are trained in different languages and he or she can also be a guide for your tour. There are also many five-star hotels in Busan there are more affordable than Seoul.
Many people often associate Jeju with honeymoon. Do you know Jeju is also an excellent destination for MICE? Jeju has its very own convention and resort complex – ICC Jeju. It is surrounded by the majestic Hallasan in the north, mystic cinder-cones on the east and west, and emerald blue Pacific on the south. ICC-Jeju is ranked the 8th international conference venue (UIA ranking) and has the record of holding about 1,500 meetings. There are many daily direct flights from major cities of Japan (Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka etc.), China (Shanghai, Beijing, Shenyang etc) and Taipei.
