KARA, SNSD and DBSK to attend Kōhaku Uta Gassen

K-pop idol groups KARA, SNSD and DBSK (Tohoshinki/東方神起 in Japan) will attend 62nd NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen (紅白歌合戦). Kohaku Uta Gassen has been part of the Japanese people, where the Japanese families will gather together for this annual program. Singers who are invited for Kohaku Uta Gassen is consider a big deal in a singer’s career.

KARA is very popular in Japan. They will be performing a medley of their hits in 2011. KARA’s Park Gyuri commented that she looks forward to see SMAP during the show.

SNSD (Shōjyojidai 少女時代 in Japanese) will also be performing for this show. They will be performing the Japanese rendition of “Genie”. Fellow label mate, DBSK will be performing the third time this year. They will be performing “Why (Keep Your Head Down)”.

As  Kōhaku Uta Gassen is also held during New Year’s eve, they will be reflecting on this year’s event. The theme of this year’s Kōhaku Uta Gassen is ” Let’s sing for Tomorrow (あしたを歌おう)” in dedication to the victims of the March 11 disasters.

Beside these K-pop idols, many popular J-pop act will also be present such as Ayumi Hamasaki, AKB48, Ken Hirai, Arashi and SMAP.

The 62nd Kōhaku Uta Gassen will be broadcast live on NHK General TV/NHK Radio 1, 31 December 2011, 7:15pm (JST).
