Chuseok Special: Korean Idols in Hanbok

Seoul Awesome brings you a series of Chuseok Special articles!

Chuseok (추석; 秋夕) is held on the 15th of the Eighth Month of the Lunar Calender and it will fall on 12th September 2011 this year. Chuseok is one of the most important festival for the Koreans and one of the feature of Chuseok is to wear Hanbok (한복; 韓服), the Korean traditional coustume. Let us see how the Korean idols look with their beautiful Chuseok!

Summer: Muju Firefly Festival

The county of Muju (무주) in North Jeolla Province is for its Muju Firefly Festival  (반딧불축제). Muju is known for their beautiful summer scenery and fireflies. It took place from 3rd June 2011 till 11th June 2011. It marks the first summer festival in Korea.

Coming of Age Day

Koreans celebrate “Coming of Age Day” (성년의 날 – Seongnyeoneui-nal), to commemorate adulthood when a person reaches the age of 20 (born 1991 this year). It falls on the third Monday of the month of May.
