If you wanna get a piece of Europe in Seoul, Garosugil (가로수길) is the answer. Garosugil(가로수길, 街路樹길) literally means tree-lined street. It definitely stands out from other upmarket shopping areas such as Apgujeong Rodeo Street.
Garosugil lies at the affluent neighbourhood of Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu. You may find international brands as well as boutiques of local designers. There are also many European-style cafes in this area. Trees look best during the autumn season as the ginko trees that line up the street turn golden. I was there during the beautiful season of autumn and had witnessed how beautiful the street was.
Many boutiques of Garosugil are also the favourite hangouts of famous Korean celebrities such as Song Hye Kyo (송혜교). If you’re lucky enough, you may even get a chance to meet the celebrities on the street of Garosugil.
Don’t you agree its just so awesome to shop at a place where “laid-back” and “trendy” come together and where you can enjoy a cup of coffee in a European-style cafe?
